Key Message.

The Government through the Department of Children Services, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics conducted a national survey that measured the prevalence, nature and consequences of physical, emotional and sexual violence against children in Kenya in 2019.

Drawing from the collected data and key findings of the survey the Government developed the National Prevention and Response Plan on Violence against Children 2019-2023 which aims at accelerating evidence based multi-sectoral actions to address violence against children. Its implementation will be led by the Government with support from partners involving children, parents, caregivers, families, schools, communities and service providers across Kenya. Child friendly booklet Protective Children against Violence which presents the survey findings and the five-year national plan in a child friendly manner was also developed with the support of children. Lastly, a public behavior change campaign dubbed as Spot it, Stop it! has been prepared to raise awareness on violence against children in Kenya and start mobilizing citizens and communities to take actions in preventing and responding to violence against children.
