Government Releases Ksh. 3.4B for August Payment to Inua Jamii Beneficiaries

Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection disbursed Ksh. 3,419,699,500 for August payment to beneficiaries enrolled in the Inua Jamii Programme. The beneficiaries of the programme began receiving their monthly stipends on 6 September, 2024.
The Inua Jamii Programme offers financial assistance through monthly stipends to the most vulnerable members of the society; elderly, orphans and vulnerable children, and Persons with Severe Disabilities, with the aim of improving their lives.
As of August, 2024, the programme boasts a total of 1,215,343 beneficiaries of the Older Persons Cash Transfer Programme, 428,421 beneficiaries of the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Cash Transfer Programme, and 59,637 beneficiaries of the Persons with Severe Disabilities Cash Transfer Programme. This brings the total number of beneficiaries to 1,703,40, an increase of 21,778 from July’s figure that stood at 1,681,623.
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Mr. Joseph. M. Motari, commended the increase to ongoing efforts to enroll more eligible Kenyans in the programme following the president’s directive to expand it to 2.5 million beneficiaries in phases.
