The Directorate of Social Development is anchored under Community Registration Act No 30 of 2022 and the functions are carried out through the decentralized structures in 8 regional offices, the 47 Counties and 317 Sub-County Social Development Offices in collaboration with National Council of Persons with Disabilities and Directorate of Children Services among other stakeholders.

It has twelve (12) Vocational Rehabilitation Centers, 1 (one) rescue center for older persons and (3) three community capacity support programme centers to provide services as community resource centers to enhance community capacities and empowerment programmes.
